WHAT HAZARDOUS SPORTS & ACTIVITIES CAN I GET COVER FOR?

Grade 1 is our standard sports cover and is covered at no extra cost.

Grades 2 – 4 can be covered for and additional premium for those people who are looking for a more adventurous / extreme holiday.

If you select a sport in Grade 3 and pay the additional premium to cover that sport then you are automatically covered for all Sports & Activities in that category and those in the all Grade 2 & 1.

Calculating the cost:

Please select the highest level sport/ activity you will be participating in while you are on holiday.

Please note: If you select a sport in Grade 3 and pay the additional premium to cover that sport then you are automatically covered for all Sports & Activities in that category and those in Grades 2 & 1.

  • Grade 1 – Standard premium 
  • Grade 2 – 50% load to the standard premium (For example standard premium of £10.72*1.5= £16.08)
  • Grade 3 – 100% load to the standard premium (For example standard premium of £10.72*2= £21.44)
  • Grade 4 – 200% load to the standard premium (For example standard premium of £10.72*3= £32.16)

Grade 1 Hazardous Sports & Activities (Covered automatically)

The following activities are included within the cover as standard, as long as they are amateur activities, conducted under adequate supervision and on an incidental basis.

Archery, badminton, baseball, basketball, beach games, black water rafting (Grade 1 to 3), bungee jumping (Maximum of 2 jumps), canoeing (excluding white water canoeing of any grade), clay pigeon shooting, cricket, cycling (excluding BMX or mountain biking), dinghy sailing, fell walking, fencing, fishing (excluding wade fishing), football, golf, hiking (under 2,000 metres altitude), horse riding(excluding jumping, hunting, polo and racing), hot air ballooning which has been booked in the UK prior to departure, jet boating, jet skiing, jogging, marathon running, motorcycling up to 50cc (Providing rider holds a full driving license and is wearing a crash helmet), netball, orienteering, outward-bound pursuits, paintballing (Providing protective eye-wear and clothing worn), parascending (over water), pony trekking, racquetball, rambling, river canoeing, roller skating, roller blading, rounders, rowing, safari (if pre-booked through UK operator, excluding the use of firearms), sail boarding, sailing within territorial limits, scuba diving up to 15 metres (excluding solo dives and no dives less than 24 hours before departure), skate boarding, snorkelling, squash, surfing, tennis, track events, trekking (under 2,000 meters altitude), triathlon, volleyball, war games, water polo (amateur), water skiing, white water rafting (Grades 1 to 3), windsurfing, yachting (inside territorial waters).Go back to top

Grade 2 Hazardous Sports & Activities (Subject to payment of an additional premium)

All the activities listed under grade 1 hazardous sports & activities plus Boxing training (no contact), Bungee jumping (up to 3 jumps), Camel/Elephant riding/trekking, Cycle touring, Flying (private/small aircraft), Flying as a passenger (private/small aircraft), Go karting (specific use), Hockey, Hot air ballooning (non incidental), Jet ski-ing (non-incidental), Kayaking, Manual labour (ground level only, no machinery), Martial Arts (training only), Motorcycling (over 50cc, no racing), Mountain biking, Parascending (over water, non-incidental), Rambling/Trekking between 2,001-4,000 m, Safari (non-UK organised), Scuba diving (non-incidental, down to 40m), Sea canoeing, Sea fishing (non-incidental), Surfing (amateur) and Waterski-ing / Windsurfing / Snorkelling (non-incidental).

Grade 3 Hazardous Sports & Activities (Subject to payment of an additional premium)

All the activities listed under grades 1 & 2 hazardous sports & activities plus Abseiling, American football (amateur), Gliding, Parachuting, Paragliding, Parascending (over land), Rugby (amateur), Sand yachting, Sky diving, Snow mobiling, Tandem skydive (up to 2 jumps maximum), White/Black water rafting (Grades 4 to 6) and Yachting (racing/crewing outside territorial waters).Go back to top

Grade 4 Hazardous Sports & Activities (Subject to payment of an additional premium)

All the activities listed under grades 1-3 hazardous sports & activities plus Canyoning, Hand gliding, High diving (amateur, excluding cliff diving), Horse jumping (no polo, hunting), Kite surfing, Micro lighting, Parasailing, Rock climbing (under 2,000 m) and Rock scrambling (under 4,000 m).Go back to top

Please note that the Insurer will not:

  • cover any child aged under 10, who is not supervised by an adult when participating in a grade 2-4 hazardous sport or activity,
  • provide any cover if you receive any financial reward or gain as a result of participating in a grade 2-4 hazardous sport or activity, or
  • pay any personal liability claim, which arises directly or indirectly, as a result of you participating in a grade2-4 hazardous sport or activity.
